Mondi introduces smart packaging solutions for watermelon transportation and storage
With roughly one third of the food produced in the world (approximately 1.3 billion tonnes) being lost or wasted, the market demands innovative solutions that will prevent further food loss. In developing countries 40% of losses occur mainly at early stages of the food value chain due to faulty transportation and storage. Mondi, an international packaging and paper Group, recently developed an innovative packaging solution that solves this problem for the watermelon supply chain and enhances product appearance at the point of sale.

Kodak Opens New Flexo Packaging Technology Center in Shanghai

Xeikon Café 2017 sets new records

DS Smith chooses KBA large format again for its new facility in Erlensee
KBA has already been supplying sheetfed offset technology to the Hanau facility of international packaging group DS Smith for several decades. Other DS Smith locations also work with Rapida sheetfed offset presses, predominantly in large format. It is thus no great surprise that the new production centre for display and consumer packaging in nearby Erlensee will again be relying on highly automated large-format Rapidas from KBA-Sheetfed.

IPACK-IMA and PLAST set to showcase innovative materials
The two exhibitions, part of the Innovation Alliance to be held at Fiera Milano from 29 May to 1 June 2018, have spawned a new satellite show devoted to innovative materials and packaging organised in cooperation with Material ConneXion Italia and presented on 7 February at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan. Innovative and functionalised materials and products for the premium segment are the focus of Innovative Material Solutions 2018, the new IPACK-IMA and PLAST satellite show which will make its debut at Fiera Milano as part of the event Innovation Alliance to be held from 29 May to 1 June 2018. It was presented on 7 February at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.

Easyfairs acquires Pentawards to complement its global packaging event portfolio
Easyfairs announces its acquisition of Pentawards, the most prestigious worldwide competition exclusively dedicated to packaging design in all its forms. Created in January 2007, Pentawards’ primary mission is to increase awareness of packaging design and those who create it. Its 55 categories are open to all those across the globe who are associated with the creation or marketing of packaging, and are judged by an international jury consisting of 12 highly reputed designers and packaging design directors from major companies.
