GEA supplements its portfolio with bottle and can filling

GEA strengthens its market position as a total solutions provider in the beverage processing industry with finalizing the acquisition of the Slovenian machine manufacturer VIPOLL d.o.o. in January 2018. VIPOLL develops and produces filling technologies for soft drinks, beer and fresh dairy products. GEA can now also fill beverages that do not require sterile processing into glass bottles, can and plastic containers. The company is already the innovation leader in blowing and filling processes in the aseptic as well as all sensitive beverage segment, especially for PET and HDPE bottles.

UPM Raflatac expands offering for industrial chemical labeling

Linx provides twin coding solution for specialist brewery

Linx printers are providing the ideal solution for the coding of both primary and secondary packaging at London-based brewery Fourpure Brewing Co. A Linx 8900 Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printer is printing three lines of code onto the base of aluminium cans. These are subsequently packed into boxes, onto which two Linx TJ725 Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) printers apply product information text and a barcode. The Linx 8900 is currently running at 12,000 cans per hour, with the Linx TJ725 coding 20 boxes per minute.

Promising Conclusions to Circular Economy Package

EU deputy ambassadors were briefed on the deal reached by negotiators on the EU waste package. For example, a common bottling line problem concerns the need to check the cap application angle on every single container and reject all containers with caps that are either too tight (i.e. too difficult to open) or too loose (i.e. with compromised product sealing performance).

HERMA extends its seawater-resistant product range

HERMA is offering new options to make label printing seawater-resistant in accordance with the strict British Standard BS5609 Section 3. Following extensive tests, the self-adhesive materials expert has received the approval for specific flexo printing inks and a commercially available thermal transfer printer. In both cases, this applies to the label materials HERMA PP white extra topcoat (grade 880) and HERMA PE white (grade 850). For printers and label users, this means better safety right from the start and less effort, since they no longer need to apply for their own certifications. Recently, HERMA had introduced materials that allow certain inkjet inks and laser toners to fulfill the requirements of BS5609 Section 3.

UPM Raflatac partners with SGA and MCC in Italy to create sample book of wine

UPM Raflatac is launching a new visual sample book to showcase its premium label materials for wine, spirits, and craft beverages. Designed in collaboration with a team from SGA Corporate & Packaging Design led by chief designer Giacomo Bersanetti, the book has been printed by leading Italian printing company Multi-Color Corporation (MCC). The book was inspired by the details and perspectives of the surfaces of the natural world, such as barks, petals, shells, and feathers.
